Research. Evidence. Impact.

COSAS VANGUARD is a proposed national network of trained young researchers, built to close the gap between academic learning and deployable research capacity. It connects organizations that need reliable evidence with researchers who are trained, certified and supervised to deliver it.

COSAS Vanguard is currently in its founding and incubation phase. Figures on this site describe our operating model and ambition, not achieved scale.

What we stand for

Four commitments sit underneath everything COSAS Vanguard builds, from a single fieldwork assignment to the long-term researcher network.

Research capacity

Building practical research competence, not just theoretical familiarity with methods.

Evidence generation

Producing evidence that is reliable enough to be used, not just collected.

Professional opportunity

Creating a credible path from learning research skills to being paid for them.

Development impact

Helping the evidence we generate actually inform the decisions it was built for.

From information to practical value

What is COSAS?

Research is often treated as a single activity: go out, collect data, submit a report. COSAS breaks that activity into the disciplines that actually determine whether the result is useful.

Collecting information is only the first step. What makes it usable is how carefully it is organized, summarized, analyzed and synthesized into something a decision-maker can actually act on.

C

Collection

Gathering data and information directly from the field or from existing sources.

O

Organizing

Structuring raw data so it can be checked, cleaned and worked with reliably.

S

Summarizing

Reducing volume without losing meaning, so patterns become visible.

A

Analyzing

Applying appropriate statistical and analytical methods to the data.

S

Synthesizing

Bringing findings together into evidence that can support a real decision.

Three engines, one model

Services generate revenue and real project experience. The Academy builds the talent pipeline. The Platform connects the two over time.

PLATFORM

Connecting researchers to opportunity

A researcher network in development, designed to match certified researchers with fieldwork and project opportunities.

Learn how it works

How COSAS works

One pathway carries a researcher from first training to ongoing project work. It is a path, not a guarantee: outcomes depend on demonstrated competence at each stage.

01

Training

Structured instruction in research methods, statistics and field practice through the Academy.

02

Certification

Assessment against a defined competency standard before deployment on real assignments.

03

Project deployment

Supervised placement on client and partner research projects matched to demonstrated skill.

04

Income

Payment for project work completed. Assignment-based, not a fixed salary or guaranteed volume.

05

Further learning

Each project feeds back into skill development, opening access to more advanced training and roles.

Researcher Network

Built to grow nationally, one verified researcher at a time

The network is designed around geopolitical zones, states and local government areas, so that fieldwork capacity can eventually be mobilized close to where it is needed.

It is being built deliberately, starting with a pilot cohort rather than an immediate national rollout. This site will reflect verified scale as it is reached, not before.

Ethics & Quality

Research judgment stays human

AI tools support parts of the research process, from data cleaning to drafting. They do not replace human review, consent or accountability at any stage.

Consent & confidentiality

Informed consent and data confidentiality are required on every assignment involving human subjects.

Researcher conduct

A defined code of conduct governs how researchers engage respondents, clients and each other in the field.

Competency-based deployment

Researchers are matched to assignments based on demonstrated skill, with project-specific training where needed.

Supervision & quality checks

Field supervision and performance monitoring run through every stage of an assignment, not only at the end.

Partnerships

Let's build better evidence together

We work with universities, research institutions, NGOs, development organizations, government agencies, businesses and consulting firms who need dependable research and fieldwork capacity.
